Dramatis Personae THE FOOL A KNIGHT THE HIGH PRIESTESS A LADY THE DEVIL DEATH Act I, Scene 1. An enchanted realm. Enter the skipping, motley-clad FOOL, carrying a deck of tarot cards wrapped in shimmering samite, within the mystical realm of Arcana. FOOL Hark, all ye noble lords and ladies fair: I come to tell a tale, with cards to bear! Lo, these tarot symbols hold great sway, And as such, guide our fates day by day. The FOOL unwraps his cards, shuffles them, and lays them out in a spread. He turns over one of the cards; it bears the likeness of a knight. Enter the KNIGHT, clad in armor and bearing a magnificent sword. The cards have spoken! Listen close— As tarot weaveth a tale grandiose! Our hero, a knight with unsheathed sword Fights for peace and justice, his sole reward. The FOOL reveals the second card.
